CEO MESSAGE

Dear Students,

Welcome to Himalaya Infoline, a website dedicated to the Ayurvedic student community. It is a platform for you to learn about the latest developments in Ayurveda, access information on educational institutions, vet through career options and above all else, connect with other students to engage in vibrant discussions online, exchange ideas and acquire knowledge.

For over 80 years, Himalaya has delved into the rich heritage of Ayurveda and developed path-breaking products that are prescribed by over 400,000 doctors worldwide. Today, we are proud to say that Liv.52, our flagship brand, is the only herbal drug in India's top 10 medicines! This accomplishment is testimony to the growing acceptance of Ayurveda.

We are inheritors of this legacy and it should be our collective vision to nurture this wealth of knowledge and share it with the world. As students of Ayurveda, you bear the responsibility of carrying this message and shaping the health of future generations. Remember, this is a great responsibility.

Himalaya Infoline is committed to building a community of scientifically-orientated Ayurveda professionals. Credible information available on the website will enhance your knowledge on Ayurveda and the phyto-pharmaceutical industry. The portal will also give you the opportunity to interact and network with other academic and research institutions to further your career prospects.

We would like this website to be the beginning of a new chapter in Himalaya's long-standing relationship with you. This website helps us reach out to you and be part of your education, learning and campus life.

We look forward to a fruitful association with you.

Ayurvedic Medical College Connect

Today, herbal medicine is being scientifically researched, reviewed and recommended by scientists and medical professionals across the world. Traditional systems of medicine like Ayurveda have the potential to become a global health solution. However, this can only be possible if the drugs are scientifically-backed and offered in a convenient, modern format.

Scientific validation of proprietary Ayurvedic formulations lies at the core of Himalaya. Our founder, Mr. M. Manal, rigorously tested the therapeutic properties of Rauwolfia serpentina before Serpina, the world's first antihypertensive drug, was launched in 1934.

With the aim to reach out to the student community and bridge the gap between academia and Ayurvedic industry, Himalaya started its Ayurveda Medical College (AMC) Connect campaign. Now, in its eleventh year, the AMC Connect reaches out to over 200 Ayurveda colleges across India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The programs under the AMC Connect initiative emphasize the need to build scientific rigor into ayurvedic practice in order to contemporize it and make it relevant in modern society.

Some of the activities conducted under AMC Connect include:

  • Jivaka and Ayurvisharada awards: Awards instituted to recognize and reward academic excellence in over 140 Ayurveda colleges across India. The awards are granted to the first and second rank holders in each of these colleges every year.
  • Continuous Medical Education (CME) programs: Workshops and seminars with guest lectures by eminent Physicians and Surgeons. Lectures focus on the importance of contemporary scientific validation of Ayurvedic practice.
  • Rural Medical Camps: Conducted in association with National Service Scheme Units of Ayurvedic Colleges, which includes general health checks and specialized camps for diabetes detection and bone mineral density, amongst others
  • Co-curricular activities:
    • Sports by way of games and cultural activities to lighten up the spirits of students amidst hectic study schedules
    • Quiz events under the exclusive program 'Ayurwhiz', a National Level Quiz competition for Ayurveda college students held every two years
  • Public social awareness drive: Blood donation, health awareness events and biodiversity conservation awareness programs at colleges
  • Himalaya Infoline: A quarterly scientific magazine for under-graduate students

The programs under the AMC Connect initiative emphasize the need to build scientific rigor into Ayurvedic practice in order to contemporize it and make it relevant in modern society. This website will further deepen the engagement between Ayurvedic colleges, students and the industry.
